The Spriggs Chiropractic clinic is purposefully designed to offer space for exercise and rehabilitation – for many this can form part of their treatment sessions. However for some, hands-on treatment is not required and the focus is using prescribed exercises and stretches to manage and prevent future issues, 0r for those who have had hands-on treatment, exercise are often key for future wellbeing.
This is why, we offer self-directed exercise sessions at the clinic.
What does this actually mean?
We have a variety of equipment in our clinic that you have access to, this include PowerPlates, treadmill, recumbent bike, kettlebells, resistance bands, TRX, gym balls, Pilates balls…the list goes on.
Self-directed exercise sessions are available to existing patients, who have been given prescribed exercises and are confident in undertaking them, and proficient in using any equipment (if required).
As the name suggests, these sessions are self-directed, but a team member is always around if you get stuck, encounter an issue, or just need a glass of water.
Why pay to come in just to do exercises?
Here are some reasons our patients have told us they chose to come into do their exercises:
- “I can use equipment I don’t have at home like a treadmill”
- “My gym doesn’t have a PowerPlate”
- “Keeps me accountable to do my exercises rather than thinking I’ll do them at home”
- “I don’t want to have to go a gym to do them – I feel more comfortable in the clinic as I know the team”
- “I can do a dedicated exercise session before my treatment so I get it all done in one go”
In our experience patients who engage with their prescribed exercises experiences less flair ups and feel stronger – if you’d like to explore doing exercises in-clinic contact us today.
Do I need to book an appointment or can I just turn up?
No, we do ask you book a ‘self-directed exercise’ appointment during our clinic times – this ensures you have exclusive use of the equipment you need and we always have a team member on hand.
What if I want to progress my exercises or I’m struggling with them?
As you become stronger, have less pain or are just finding prescribed exercises easier, it can be important to progress your exercises. Equally, you be finding your current exercises aren’t working for you, or have had a change in health status and need to adapt your exercises.
If either of these situations is the case, we suggest booking in with your clinician for a 121 exercise session (£35) – this will allow you a 30minute session to review your existing exercises and explore where to go next.
